About Our Free Electronics Recycling Events

Clearing out old electronics shouldn’t be complicated or risky. Our free recycling events are drive-through: register ahead of time, load your items in the trunk, and pull up. Our team unloads everything for you, and every device goes back to our secure West Grove facility for certified processing.

No fees. No heavy lifting. No wondering what happened to the files on that old laptop.

Your data, handled responsibly

Old hard drives, phones, and thumb drives hold more than most people realize: saved passwords, tax documents, photos, banking logins. Deleting files doesn’t remove them, and a factory reset on an older device often doesn’t either.

Sycamore has been doing certified data destruction since 2010. We’re NAID-AAA certified for Secure Data Destruction and HIPAA compliant, with a documented secure chain of custody from the moment your device leaves your hands. Data-bearing devices are wiped to standards that meet or exceed NIST 800-88, and anything that can’t be verifiably wiped is physically shredded at our facility.

It’s the same process that protects hospital records, business records and school district equipment – the one difference is paperwork. We don’t issue individual certificates of destruction for household drop-offs, but the handling is identical.

Responsible Recycling: where your electronics actually end up

At our solar powered facility, devices with remaining life are refurbished for reuse only after data has been securely destroyed. The rest are broken down for material recovery.

R2v3 helps guide how certified recyclers like Sycamore handle old electronics the right way. It puts a strong focus on data protection, worker safety, environmental responsibility and sending materials only to verified downstream partners. In plain terms, your devices don’t just disappear – they move through a documented process from drop-off to final responsible material recovery.

That matters because what happens to the devices after the drop-off is just as important as the collection event itself.

  • Keyboards, mice, and cables
  • Hard drives and other storage media

Not sure about something? Bring it and we can let you know.

What we can’t accept

The equipment Sycamore will not accept includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Compressed gas canisters
  • Nuclear, biological, or hazardous waste
  • Paint and chemicals
  • Wood, paper, and cardboard

Before you come

You don’t need to wipe anything – that’s our job. Two small favors, though:

  • Sign out of iCloud, Google, and Find My Device so we can refurbish rather than shred where possible
  • Pull out any SIM cards, SD cards, or accessories you want to keep, otherwise they’ll be shredded

This event is for household electronics only: up to 60 lbs of miscellaneous electronics per vehicle and two TVs per vehicle.

Please do not bring business or commercial assets to these events.
